Drop The Cache, Drop The Cash
Meet the Addlink G55, the first PCIe 5.0 SSD using Phison’s E31T DRAMless controller. You can currently get your hands on the 1TB version for $115, or $195 for the 2TB version if you don’t need a heatsink, or spend that extra $1.50 to get one included just in case you need it at some point. The lack of a DRAM cache hasn’t deterred Addlink from advertising sequential reads over 10GB/s and over 8GB/s writes, which Guru3D confirmed as being accurate. They also proved the SLC cache is larger than 64GB out of the box, further testing places the throttling point at around 430 GB on the 2TB model.
The Phison controller on the Addlink G55 does get toasty, but not enough that passive cooling can’t handle the heat. It’s not the fastest PCIe 5.0 NVMe drive available, but it’s about the only one you will get for that magical 10 cents per gig!
